The new technology has had an effect both negatively and positively on people’s daily life. People spent many hours using the new devices that are in the market. People used the new technology every day like air we need to survive. The new technology is so comprehensive that even when we go on vacation, we do not need to use a paper map to get directions to the place we enjoy visiting, for example: the use of GPS tracker equipment is a boon to business agents who need to go to remote areas and do not know the place either to meet a new client or to sell new products.

The advantages for these devices are: people can communicate easier and faster using the Internet, people can be in touch with friends and relatives, there are many ways now to communicate for example using the Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, or e-mail, also using the cell phone is another way to communicate from any place. At work computers have had a good performance; it is easier for business to speak and communicate well with customers holding conferences in chat rooms or exchange files via the Internet.  These businesses have been growing more profits and better productivity every day. In medicine for example, doctors can perform an operation without being present, or prescribing medicine right through the computer without looking at the patient. Technology has grown so fast that people must grow with it.

Disadvantage of new technology, there are some of them; for example: more accidents on the streets or highways because of people using cell phone texting, talking, surfing the Internet or listening to music. Also people concentrate too much on using the cell phone at work, school or walking on the street that sometimes cause accidents. Another thing is the use of electronic games like X-box, Wii, Play station, Nintendo Ds. It causes children to spend hours playing instead of studying, reading a book or exercise outdoors. People are so used to the new technology that they are no longer able to think for themselves. A task to students, the first thing is the computer used to do the research for information, libraries are no longer places where to find a book to use, of the dictionary is no longer necessary to look at the meaning of a word now everything is electronic.

Technology is good these days it helps a lot, but it is turning people into robots. The advantages and disadvantages of the technology are positive and negative all depends on how people are using it. – Maria Lopez

Nowadays, thanks to the development of new technology, our life becomea easier and more interesting. In general, new technology, such as laptops, cell phones, and other devices, helps most of people in their work, daily activities, and school. For example, in the old times, we must wait half an hour to an hour to have a seat in the restaurant, but now we can book a seat with just a phone call. To me, new technology has had both positive and negative effects on my life, and I think many people have the same thought.

First, I will talk about a positive effect of the development of new technology. We all know that before new technology appears, we have many disadvantages in doing many things, such as work, school, transportation, and communication. Because of that, scientists and other genius persons start to think and invent new technology in order to make people’s life easier. Nowadays, instead of sending letters by mail, you can send them by e-mail as long as you have a computer, smart phone, or laptop with Internet connection. It’s really fast and convenient, isn’t it? My parents told me: “It’s absolutely amazing when we live a life with new and high technology. Now I can talk to my friends in our country without paying any fee because of the application called “Skype.” Without having it, I will have to pay a lot of money in phone bill, you know.” So we can see how important new technology is.

Although having new technology in our lives is really great, it also has a negative effect on us. Some people depend on new technology almost completely as if they will die for sure without touching it for one day. Teenagers who have their own computers or laptops will spend all their time to check in Facebook, watch videos, and play games. That means they are using their time unwisely. That will be great if teenagers know how to balance their time because spending too much time on entertainment is bad, but don’t spend time relaxing is bad, too. I know some of my friends who are totally in playing games, and they are enjoying their “online life.” If this problem keeps going, they will lose their ability to socialize and communicate with other people because “online life” is completely different from our real life.

The factors I mentioned above are main and common. We also have many opinions from many people which are positive and negative as well. “My friend prefers playing his game on weekend to hanging out with me. He wasn’t like that until he had his new computer,” one teenager said. But some students know how to make a good use of new technology. “I can find useful information for my homework through the Internet, talk to my friends to relax, etc,” a college student said. Some people are willing to write and send letters instead of using computers since they think writing letters is traditional and enjoyable.

Finally, new technology has had both positive and negative effects. It depends on how people use it. People who can make a good use of new technology may have an easy life. But depending too much on technology will have bad effects, such as losing ability to socialize and communicate, having stress and be inactive because it’s so convenient. In other words, you should know and learn how to use new technology wisely so it can help you effectively. — Vu La

Have you ever noticed a scene that while you are waiting at a bus stop or outside a classroom, what others do — playing with a smart phone or a tablet computer? There is no doubt that this kind of high-tech products have been a part of our modern life. Of course, we benefit from using them, so it’s the trend in life style.

In the past, letter was the most common way to connect with each other. Usually, the information in the letter was not current because it took time to deliver it. When I was a litter girl, I could only hear from my grandparents abroad once or twice a year by mailing a letter. Later, phone was becoming cheaper and cheaper, we had more chances to chat. Today, if we want, we can talk with each other face to face even we are thousand miles away. I was aware of how wonderful it is to have this technology two months ago. That was my cousin’s wedding in China. We, including his parents, could not attend this important occasion. How regretful it is if parents cannot be present at child’s wedding! Internet can solve this problem perfectly. By the Internet and a computer monitor, we “attended” the wedding, gave out our best wishes. It became a happy memory in all our life.

I have been apart with my friends and classmates for almost two years, but I feel like we are still very close to each other. I know very little things happened to every friend of mine. She got a new job, he just got married, they traveled to shanghai two days ago …… By checking my ipod, I can get the latest information from my friends. We have turned into a habit that updating our status via cell phones, tablet computers whenever and wherever.

Because of the convenience of cell phone and the Internet, we are more knowledgable. We can tell what’s happening in every corner in the world. We have more wide vision. Not far away, our world will be as small as a village.

Our life is changing. Owing to the new products, we are getting a better life!

Nowadays, most peple have new technology products, such as laptops, cell phones, and PDA devices, etc. These products make our lives more convenient and more connected. However, they do positively and negatively affect our lives.

As modern people, new technology products are indispensable to our lives. I believe everyone must have a TV at home. This is an important but not essential device to people. However, we do need a TV to entertain ourselves while we are relaxing. We also need it to learn the news of the world. It lets us connect to the whole world. People would lag behind if they do not own a new technology product.

For those office workers, they definitely need new technology products. Their work could be done faster with those products. They need cell phones to connect to each other and let their work become more mobile so that they could contact and get order from their boss even though they work outside. New technology products do make work more efficient.

However, new technology products also have negative effect on our lives. Computers are both good and bad to us. If we use computers correctly and properly, it could make our work smooth. But if we misuse them, it could be harmful to us. Some people use computers just for gaming. They stay in front of the computers playing games for a long time and leave their homework unfinished. It would hurt their eyes and make their study lag behind.

New technology products are like a knife. If we use them correctly, it would help us to work better. However, if we misuse them, it wouldn’t help us but hurt ourselves.    -FAI HUI

It is true that cell phones have many advantages. With the high level modern technology, cell phones have changed our life rapidly during the past decade. Ten years age when I was about 13, cell phones were not so popular, but now, they are as common as tooth brushes. However, I’m going to talk about some negative aspects of having a cell phone.

First of all, cell phones are actually not so convenient and may cause some problems. Having a cell phone, people are able to talk everywhere without considering the distance between each other, but thieves can take that advantages too. As a result, cell phones frauds happen a lot nowadays and people just cannot stop them because those invisible thieves are far away. In spite of this, we almost receive junk mail and cheating messages every day and that’s annoying.

Secondly, with the convenience of modern technology, people more and more rely on their cell phones. People will say: “Cell phones are so important that we can’t live without them.” So, “cell phone addiction” happens. Cell phones are multi-functional products with which people can do a lot of things such as making phone calls, listening to music, playing games, using a dictionary, and keeping notes. Cell phones are so “useful” that when people come across problems, they just simply use their cell phones and work them out. In spite of that, cell phones have strong memory and they record almost everything that used to be memorized in our brain. Here’s an example, then years age, I remember almost all of my friends’ telephone numbers, but now, I don’t even remember mine. I can check the phone book at any time and when I make phone calls, I only click on the person’s name. I would like to say that people trust cell phones more than their brain.

Third, radiation is also a serious problem. We bring cell phones everywhere and we are also exposed to radiation from time to time. Besides, using a cell phone, we can’t focus on our businesses; a phone call may interrupt the whole class while we are studying.

In general, cell phone is not a bad thing but as what is said, everything should be used in a moderate way. When we enjoy the advantages of the modern technology, we should also consider the disadvantages it might bring. — Qicheng Pu
