Every Student or Every Students?

Hi there,

So should you say “every student” or “every students”?

Tricky one, isn’t it? :-)

Well, the rule is the following:

“Every” is always followed by a singular verb.

That’s because we refer to every single item, and NOT to all of them combined.

So the correct phrase is “every student.”

Some more examples:
- Every students in the class must do the exam.
- Every student have has a teacher.

Here are some incorrect examples:
- Every words are important.
- Every moments are new.
- Every parent are present in the meeting.

And these are the same sentences, corrected:
- Every word is important.
- Every moment is new.
- Every parent is present in the meeting.

  1. The changes of Technology
Twenty years ago I had a bipper. You were able to text but only a few word using numbers as codes. It was very popular at that time. A few years later the bipper became out dated. then the cellphones came those big o phones I had one for a while. I guess that was not too expensive a lot people started using them. After that came the flip phones. A lot of different ones. Now it’s the era of the smart phones such as the Iphone, Android and many more. It’s amazing what the phones can do. It’s like having a personal assitant to answer any question you have. or with use of the navigation that can take where ever you want to go. It’s amazing how technology has changed as the years passed. And also it’s a wonderful thing for us. The technology just keeps getting beter and better. I got my smart phone six years ago. It helps me a lot to do my homework assignments. It has so many free useful applications I love these phones. I’m learning more english since I got my phone. I wonder how technology will change within the next ten years.
