Writing a Blog

Filed under: ESL Students' Writings — ytcaples @ 16:46

I am going to try to keep an online blog and have my students do it also to help them practice writing in English.  Everyday I will post a question on the board for them to copy in their blog and respond to.  I think this is a good forum for writing in English since it is public and many people will read their blogs.  Hopefully, my students will take pride in what they write and put forth their best effort.

  1. Dear Dr. Li,

I think your idea is great! How is it working?

I am teaching writing composition in Shanghai and would like my students to contribute to a Blogger site I set up. Unfortunately, their workload is an intensive preparation to go abroad, so few have spare time.

Please write to me at my name at Yahoo.com if you would like to exchange ideas.

  2. I have been in LA about two years, reviewing my experience in studying English: First, I went to Adult school , after my finish 2 semester I found my writing ability did not improve at all. Teacher just taught you some reading, some grammers, some topics, you had NOT learned English systematically. You maybe improved your knowing Local American life, new things, however, I felt a poor improvement facing my more more business needs. Second, I attended some Church meeting, parties. it is a good places in some points.but Christan often called you to join their meetings, they were ethemastic. At last, I took a decision to go to college ESL program. Holding my unsatisfied enroll test, I attended the class, started to study in my different learning environment. Some interesting things happened, such as teacher writing I had never seen, some pronuntion I had never studied before …. I will try to keep going at this.

It’s a wonderful experience to give an opportunity of people to give a writing english. Meanwhile it’s more difficult to enhance his english language when it’s our mother tongue, so I hope to try with a down level for a beggener
