I Miss Guangzhou

Filed under: ESL Students' Writings — Tags: — CAO JUN @ 16:24

I was born in Guangzhou, a big city in southern China. I moved to the U S four years ago. Since then, I have been back to Guangzhou twice. I am planning to go the third time in January 2013. I am so missing Guangzhou. The three things I most miss about Guangzhou are the restaurants, my social status, and my family.

Thinking about the restaurants in Guangzhou really makes me homesick. When we are in Guangzhou, my wife and I liked to taste different kinds of dishes in different restaurants. We had an agreement that we celebrate our birthdays by eating buffets in different five star hotels. As time went by, more and more five star hotels were built in Guangzhou. We are looking forward to eating in these new hotels.

The next thing that I miss is the social status I used to have. I used to be a tour guide in an outbound travel agency. I have been to 28 countries in the world. I miss the opportunities to travel around different places. Also, I miss my large group of friends in Guangzhou.

The thing I miss the most is my family. My father and mother are living in Guangzhou. They are nearly 70 years old. The health of my Mom is not so good. She always gets headache and cough. My last time in Guangzhou was in April this year. My Mom coughed serious at that time. One week after I came back to the US, my Mom was in hospital. She stayed there for 10 days to treat her bad cough. Even if she is recovered now, I still miss my Mom very much.

I miss everything in Guangzhou. Going to Guangzhou only takes 14 hours by flight. I will go to Guangzhou more often whenever I have vacation.

The Noise Pollution from My Neighbors

Filed under: ESL Students' Writings — Tags: — Junwu @ 22:08

My new neighbors are two young guys about the age of 25 to 30. They always make a lot of noise at night. For example, I was doing homework one night, I heard a group of people talking and laughing loudly. I looked out of the window. I saw my neighbor drinking beer with several boys and girls. They seemed to be celebrating some happy things. They didn’t stop until two o’clock in the morning.

Another example, I was woken up by a guitar and a sad singing sound at three o’clock in one early morning. I recognized it was one of my neighbors. This time he seemed to be very sad. Hearing the sad song, I could not sleep again until five o’clock.

One more example, I was tired one night and fell asleep at ten o’clock. But unfortunately, I was woken up again by the familiar noise. It was my neighbors, together with some young guys having a barbecue party. I looked at the clock in my bedroom. It was exactly twelve o’clock midnight. It is so bad to live with my neighbors. I hope they will move soon. – Junwu
