However, we're mostly looking for enthusiastic, fun-loving teachers who have patience and the ability to interact one-on-one with, as well as within a group of children, as children are the main customer base. Hours range between 18-25/week depending on the school and contract. End of contract bonuses are available depending on the length of contract. For teachers: You should have some teaching experience, preferably one year or more. You should also have an educational certificate, like TEFL, CELTA, TESOL or equivalent (with classroom experience). You MUST be a native English speaker, i.e. from the USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa. No exceptions. Ethnicity doesn't matter, so long as you come from one of these countries. And you must have a bachelors degree. We are a small culture school located on the southern tip of Honshu Island (Japan), about 40 minutes by train from Shimonoseki - across the Kanmon straight from Kyushu island. Our city is called Onoda and it has a population of about 45,000 people. We teach "New Dance" and "English Conversation." At present we have 6 English teachers on our staff and 3 dance teachers. The dance teachers also carry out the day to day running of the school. University and College graduates from English speaking countries are offered a monthly salary of from Yen250,000 - 270,000 for a maximum 98 hours monthly teaching schedule. High school graduates from Canada, Australia and New Zealand can join us under Holiday/Work visa status and are offered a monthly salary of from Yen220,000 - 230,000 for a maximum 98 hours monthly teaching schedule. Any hours taught over and above 98 hours are classed as overtime and remunerated at the rate of Yen2,500 per hour. Our teachers aren't usually asked to put in office time. Teachers who are employed by us receive from 10 to 14 days paid vacation over Christmas and the New Year (plus two days off per week and relevant Japanese National holidays). The length of this holiday depends upon the school's teaching schedules at that time. If our teachers extend their contact by 6 months, they receive an extra 5 days paid vacation. If they extend their contract by one year, they receive an extra 10 days paid vacation. Requests for unpaid vacation are also taken into consideration during light workloads. BENDA covers all "Apartment Key Money' expenses, only asking the teacher to pay his/her monthly rental costs (which are usually around Yen40,000 to Yen55,000 per month). We also put in a telephone line to all our teachers' apartments and provide each teacher with a small city car for both business and private use. The teacher being requested to pay the yearly tax/insurance for the vehicle (coming to around Yen4,000 / Yen115,000 per year respectively). The Academy provides interest free loans for joining expenditures and a year ending bonus of Yen25,000 towards travel costs. The Academy covers work related accident insurance for all employees. Our new teachers usually take over an existing apartment and therefore have the chance to purchase furniture from an outgoing teacher. We provide an interest free loan of up to Yen75,000 towards the purchase of such furniture. We are a small culture school located on the southern tip of Honshu Island (Japan), about 40 minutes by train from Shimonoseki - across the Kanmon straight from Kyushu island. Our city is called Onoda and it has a population of about 45,000 people. We teach "New Dance" and "English Conversation." At present we have 6 English teachers on our staff and 3 dance teachers. The dance teachers also carry out the day to day running of the school. University and College graduates from English speaking countries are offered a monthly salary of from Yen250,000 - 270,000 for a maximum 98 hours monthly teaching schedule. High school graduates from Canada, Australia and New Zealand can join us under Holiday/Work visa status and are offered a monthly salary of from Yen220,000 - 230,000 for a maximum 98 hours monthly teaching schedule. Any hours taught over and above 98 hours are classed as overtime and remunerated at the rate of Yen2,500 per hour. Our teachers aren't usually asked to put in office time. Teachers who are employed by us receive from 10 to 14 days paid vacation over Christmas and the New Year (plus two days off per week and relevant Japanese National holidays). The length of this holiday depends upon the school's teaching schedules at that time. If our teachers extend their contact by 6 months, they receive an extra 5 days paid vacation. If they extend their contract by one year, they receive an extra 10 days paid vacation. Requests for unpaid vacation are also taken into consideration during light workloads. BENDA covers all "Apartment Key Money' expenses, only asking the teacher to pay his/her monthly rental costs (which are usually around Yen40,000 to Yen55,000 per month). We also put in a telephone line to all our teachers' apartments and provide each teacher with a small city car for both business and private use. The teacher being requested to pay the yearly tax/insurance for the vehicle (coming to around Yen4,000 / Yen115,000 per year respectively). The Academy provides interest free loans for joining expenditures and a year ending bonus of Yen25,000 towards travel costs. The Academy covers work related accident insurance for all employees. Our new teachers usually take over an existing apartment and therefore have the chance to purchase furniture from an outgoing teacher. We provide an interest free loan of up to Yen75,000 towards the purchase of such furniture. We have no restrictions regarding our teachers socialising with their students, so there's always a good opportunity to learn about Japanese culture and study the Japanese language. The period of service will be from the 1th of September 2004 to the 15th of July 2005. ¢ñ¡¢Duty of Party B 1 Taking teaching position in _ British& American Literature, English writing, oral English., working five days per week, giving _16 _classes a week (40 minutes for one period of class). 2¡¢Making good preparations for classes, checking exercises, giving instructions, supervising examinations, grading examination papers and working out students' marks. 3¡¢Reporting feed-back information from teaching to the dean according to the requirements of the departments; carrying out the work of teaching and scientific research, and helping guide the language corner and after-class activities. ¢ò¡¢Responsibilities of Party B 1¡¢Carrying out the teaching program in line with the requirements of the college, using text-books agreed upon by both sides. Listening to the suggestions and instructions from the appointing side. Improving teaching methods and achieving good teaching results. 2¡¢Assuring that the teaching program is not interrupted or suspended except for illness or other special reasons. No private travel or vacation can be arranged in this period. Informing the teaching department office one-day ahead of time in case of cancelling classes because of illness or other special reasons. Without the approval of the dean or the teaching department office, no classes can be cancelled or changed. On working days, if one has something unexpected and wants to leave our college for one day or more, one shall ask for leave in written form to the department director concerned. One can leave our college only after getting approval. On holidays, when one wants to leave our college for one day or more, one shall report to the FOREIGN AFFAIRS OFFICE before leaving. 3¡¢Party B is requested to understand and comply with the college's regulations and rules concerned. The person hired should take himself (herself) as a member of the teaching department staff and accept temporary and necessary teaching assignments of the appointing side. And the appointing side will pay for the extra work. The extra payment is the same as Chinese teachers. 4¡¢Take good care of the college property. Return all of them to the college before you leave the college. If something is lost or damaged deliberately, you shall reasonably pay for it. ¢ó¡¢Extra Remuneration During the Period of the Contract 1¡¢Accommodation Party B is provided with a well-furnished apartment (a bedroom, a sitting-room, a bath-room, a kitchen) together with kitchen utensils, a gas stove, bed-clothes, furniture, a TV set, a refrigerator, a washing machine, a telephone, an air-conditioner, a heater, a microwave stove, a hot & warm water dispenser etc. The lodging house is free of charge. 2. Monthly salary for Party B is 4500-5500 Yuan RMB. 3. Consumption of Water, Electricity and Others. Water consumption is free of charge£¨excluding mineral water£©. Party B is subsidized RMB 380 yuan for gas a year (RMB 190 yuan allotted in half a year); RMB 65 yuan for telephone a month and RMB 160 yuan for electricity a month (200 KWH a month). The charge for actual consumption of gas, electricity, telephone is deducted from the salary. 4¡¢Medical Care Party B enjoys the same preferential treatment as Chinese teachers for treatment of common diseases in the college clinic. Party B has to pay for all the medical care outside the college. 5¡¢Transportation During the whole academic year, Party A will arrange one-day picnic or sightseeing for Party B twice to the scenic spots in Zhanjiang area. Party A will have some necessary companions to go. The college will provide the fee needed. Party A will reimburse Party B with RMB 6000 Yuan for international communication subsidy in one month time after Party B¡¯s arrival if Party B sign one school year contract with Party A. | Message: | The following ad is probably the most honest ad you will ever see for an English teaching job in China. I'm an American who has taught English at K.A. School near Shanghai for a year. The school had bad experiences with foreign teachers. Both sides can be blamed. But they asked me to help them find a couple of English teachers for this year (September to June). The school is located near Shanghai Pudong Airport. It's in the boondocks, but only 60-90 minutes from downtown by bus/subway or bus/bus. The school is affiliated with a national university, so it's fully accredited. It enrolls around 1,500 students from first through ninth grades. Teachers would be assigned to either elementary and/or middle school classes. The current need is for two NATIVE SPEAKERS of English to complete a staff of four foreign teachers. Ideally the school would like to hire a married couple, or else two women who are friends, that would like to work in China together. They want people who are from the USA, Canada, Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, or similar countries with NATIVE SPEAKERS. The individuals taking these jobs should have an interest in China or, at least, in Asia. You should be prepared to make a one-year commitment and not have to lug too many major possessions with you. There should be no bills to worry about at home. You can't get homesick after a few months. You can't quit in the middle of the year. Make a decision and stick it out. Chinese salaries suck. I'm telling you that right now and up front. Last year, we made 5000 RMB (equal to $605) per month. I'm trying to get them to raise the level some, yet I can't guarantee it. But you don't teach to get rich anyway. It's about the experience. This is the type of thing that will change your life. You will teach but you will also learn a lot. It's worth taking the challenge. The foreign teachers will share a two story, four bedroom, four bathroom, two living room house on campus. Each living room is equipped with a TV, refrigerator, and computer. Each bedroom has a bed, desk, cabinet, and telephone. Since you don't have to pay rent, that will take a little of the sting out of the low salary. You will teach between 18 and 24 classes per week. The school will also reimburse your round trip airfare at the end of the school year, as long as the ticket is reasonably priced. You should also be non-smokers. You should not be heavy drinkers either. Teachers are supposed to be role models. You must have college or university degrees. And, once again, this school is not in the city. It is 60-90 minutes from downtown. The important details, such as visas and work permits, will be done by the school after you arrive. No experience necessary and certification is provided. Oh, and this isn't one of those shady Chinese places you read about that gets its kicks by ripping off foreigners.
