The website www.rong-chang.com was launched in 1994 at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with the goal of sharing English learning materials online. Since its inception, it has supported millions of English learners around the globe, continuously evolving to meet the changing needs of its users.To further expand our offerings, we established eslfast.com in 2006. Together, the two websites now offer one of the largest collections of free English teaching and learning resources available online. These include over 3,000 conversational dialogues on a wide range of topics, more than 2,500 short essays, and countless vocabulary and grammar exercises tailored to learners at all proficiency levels.
Introducing Online AI Tutor ESL Robot 5.0
ESL Robot 5 is an AI-powered English tutor that brings the long-envisioned concept of computer-assisted language learning to life. More than just a chatbot, it uses cutting-edge AI to simulate a real human tutor—one that not only chats with students, but also identifies their errors and shows them how to express themselves correctly and idiomatically. It offers learning tips, tests, exams, and personalized feedback to support continuous improvement.A Free Chat feature allows students to relax and enjoy casual conversation without constant correction. With Text-to-Speech and Automatic Speech Recognition technologies, students can both speak with and listen to the tutor, creating a truly interactive learning experience.
Points-Based Reward System
To make English learning more engaging and motivating, we have implemented a gamified points-based reward system into our websites. This system encourages consistent practice, rewards achievement, and enhances overall user engagement. It includes the following components:a) Exercise Completion Rewards
Users earn between 2 and 15 points for completing an exercise with 100% accuracy, depending on its length and level of difficulty. Points are awarded only for perfect performance. If a user does not achieve a full score, they must retry the exercise to earn points. When mistakes are made, a pop-up message appears with an animated character saying: "You made some mistakes. Try again! You'll earn 5 points when you get it 100% correct." Once the user achieves a perfect score, the character reappears to congratulate them with sound effects, reinforcing a sense of accomplishment.
b) Time-Based Rewards
Students receive 3 points for every 15 minutes of active study on the websites. Qualifying activities include completing exercises, listening, reading, and vocabulary practice. Users must study for at least 15 minutes to earn points, and inactive time is not counted.
c) Daily Study Encouragement
To promote consistency, students are encouraged to study every day. If a student misses a day, 5 points will be deducted from their total score.
d) Leaderboard and Rankings
Users are ranked based on their total accumulated points. A leaderboard displays the top 50 users, including their names, total scores, and countries. All registered users, both free and paid, can view their current ranking, fostering a sense of competition and achievement.
e) Membership Tiers, Tests, and Exams
Members are categorized into the following tiers based on their total points:
Bronze: 1,000 points
Silver: 3,000 points
Gold: 6,000 points and above
Each time a student reaches 1,000 points, a "Take a Test" button will appear when they access ESL Robot, their AI tutor. Additionally, for every 10,000 points earned, a "Take an Exam" option will become available, providing users with opportunities to assess their progress at key milestones.

Advertising revenue helps cover maintenance costs and supports the work of writers, voice artists, and developers who contribute to the site's growing library of resources.The founding vision of Rong-Chang ESL has always been to make high-quality English learning materials freely accessible to anyone who wants to learn.
