48. The Big Question 2 (A)

Mike sat next to Maria in his car. He had finally asked Maria the question that had been on his mind for the past few weeks. Mike had asked Maria to marry him. Maria had answered yes. Mike had planned to ask the question to Maria somewhere special, but his plan was changed when Maria figured out his intention. The two of them were now inside of Mike's car which was parked in the street next to a liquor store.

That evening had been a perfect one. The night was cool and calm. The stars were all visible due to low cloud coverage. And to finally top it all off, the moon was radiant and full. Out on the streets it was nice and quiet. There were not too many people walking around, and even less cars driving on the roads. The stillness of the night added to the effect of the moment Mike and Maria were sharing in the car.

Maria was overwhelmed with emotion. The love of her life had proposed to her, and she had agreed to it. Mike, although not as emotional, was absolutely thrilled. His heart had been racing prior to asking Maria the question. It still raced but not out of nervousness, but out of excitement. Maria had said yes to spending the rest of her life with him.

Mike was bursting with joy. He could not believe it. "Are…are you sure, Maria?" he earnestly asked his wide-eyed finance. Maria reached for Mike's hands, looked him straight in the eye, and told him, "I've never been more sure about anything else in my life," she answered, tears swelling up in her eyes. Mike's eyes began to tear up as soon as he notices Maria's crying eyes. It was a touching moment for both of them.
